National Health Insurance Premium Payments Notification

This notification will be sent out on June 12 (Fri.) to the head of each household as recorded in the resident register. If you do not receive it by June 19 (Fri.), please contact the National Health Insurance Eligibility Section, Medical Insurance and Pension Division at 03-5273-4146.

If your 2025 income declaration (for income tax and resident’s tax) was delayed, or if you are taxed outside Shinjuku City or have not submitted a tax declaration, your notification may show only the per capita (flat rate) portion of the premium. Once your total income for 2025 is confirmed, the premium amount including the income-based portion will be recalculated and you will be sent a revised amount. If you have not yet submitted a tax declaration, please do so promptly.

Payment Deadline

The deadline is the end of each month from June through March of the following year (or the next business day if the deadline falls on a weekend or financial institution holiday).

Changes Effective from FY2026

・ We are adding child and child-rearing support contributions to the National Health Insurance premiums.
・ We will introduce a prepayment system for premiums. Households whose head of household was not registered as a resident in Japan as of January 1 of the relevant year must pay the premiums in a lump sum.
