Making Okubo Street a Temporary Pedestrian Zone on March 28
We will be conducting a social experiment on March 28 to ease congestion on Okubo Street, turning part of the road into a pedestrian zone. Vehicles will not be able to use this stretch of the street during that period. Your understanding and cooperation are appreciated.
| Date and time | March 28 (Sat.), 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. |
|---|---|
| Location | A stretch of Okubo-dori, from the Tsutsuji-dori intersection to the Meiji-dori intersection (approximately six hundred meters). |
Opening ceremony featuring the Edo Shogunate Teppo-gumi Hyakunin-tai!
There will be a ritual procession and demonstration by the Teppo-gumi Hyakunin-tai (Hundred-Member Musket Corps), a city-registered intangible folk cultural asset, along this section from 11 to 11:30 a.m. and from noon to 12:30 p.m. Why not experience local history firsthand?
Note: The matchlock muskets used will fire blanks, so there will be intermittent loud noises during the ceremony.
