To Parents/Guardians Wanting to Enroll Their Children in Municipal Junior High Schools

Enrollment Application

Enrolling a child of foreign nationality in a Shinjuku municipal elementary school or junior high school requires an application. Even if your child is currently attending a municipal elementary school, you must submit a new application.

School Information Sessions and Open School Events

Municipal schools hold school information sessions. Please check the Shinjuku City website for the schedule and more information on these sessions. Please visit the school you would like to enroll your child in and attend its information session.
As the city promotes initiatives to develop more attractive education and open schools to the local community, municipal schools also offer open school events during class hours where you can observe classes and school activities.
If you wish to participate in school information sessions and open school events, please check the latest information on the relevant school’s website or the Shinjuku City website in advance.
Note: Multilingual support is not available at these school information sessions and open school events.

School Selection System

While Shinjuku City focuses on its own school district system, it also has a school selection system that allows students to choose a junior high school outside their district at the time of enrollment. If you want your child to attend a school outside his/her school district, please submit a school selection form.
Note: If you want your child to attend a school within his/her school district, however, you do not need to submit a school selection form.
