Human papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccine Immunization

HPV is a virus that can cause cervical cancer in women, anal cancer in men, and genital warts. Receiving the HPV vaccine can help prevent various cancers and other diseases related to HPV.

How to Get Vaccinated

You can receive the vaccinations for free if you bring the preliminary checkup sheets issued by Shinjuku City to a designated medical institution. If you do not have a checkup sheet, please apply by phone or via the Shinjuku City website (click here for men, for women).

Government recommended periodic immunizations for women

Eligibility Women born between April 2, 2009 and April 1, 2014
Doses 2 to 3 doses (depending on the age when vaccination starts, etc.)

Note: For women born between April 2, 2013 and April 1, 2014, Shinjuku City mailed the checkup sheets on March 26.

Transitional measures (for women)

Eligibility Women born between April 2, 1997 and April 1, 2009 who have received at least one dose between April 1, 2022 and March 31, 2025
Doses Up to 2 doses
Vaccination deadline March 31, 2026

 

Optional immunizations for men

Eligibility Men born between April 2, 2009 and April 1, 2014
Doses 3 doses
Available vaccine Gardasil (quadrivalent) only

Transitional measures (for men)

Eligibility Men born between April 2, 2008 and April 1, 2009 who have received at least one dose between April 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025
Doses Up to 2 doses
Vaccination deadline March 31, 2026
