Medical Subsidies for Children
Children up to the first March 31 after he/she reaches 18 years of age enrolled in Japanese health insurance are issued medical certificates upon application.
If you submit your health insurance card along with this medical certificate at the service counter of a medical in+E18:E29stitution in the metropolitan Tokyo area, you can be exempted from the personally borne cost for medical treatment covered by insurance. In addition, please apply for a subsidy if you pay the personally borne cost for medical treatment (for example, if you pay the cost of meals during hospitalization or if you undergo medical treatment at an institution outside of the metropolitan Tokyo area).
