New National Health Insurance Cards on the Way

National Health Insurance (NHI) cards are renewed once every two years. If your NHI card is valid until September 30, 2021, you will receive the one via simple registered mail by September 30 (Thu.). You can use your new card when you receive it.
Please note that if you are behind in paying your health insurance premiums for the previous fiscal year or even before that, you may receive a health insurance card with a shorter period of validity or a health insurance member eligibility certificate.

▼ Your new NHI card will be processed based on your National Health Insurance qualification information and resident record data as of Friday, August 13, 2021. If you have moved, please file a notification with the Family and Resident Registration Division or your local branch office. If there is a change in your qualification for National Health Insurance, such as due to employment or retirement, please file a notification with the Medical Insurance and Pension Division or your local branch office as soon as possible.

▼ Health insurance cards are issued to each and every individual member. If there are two or more members in the same household, however, the cards will be sent together in an envelope addressed to the head of the household.

If You Have Trouble Receiving the New Health Insurance Card by Mail at Home

If you have trouble receiving registered mail due to special circumstances—such as hospitalization or home renovations—please call us to find out how to obtain your health insurance card. If you complete the procedures in advance, you can have your card delivered to a different address. This requires you to submit documentation to confirm that you live at the address on your health insurance card, and to verify your special circumstances.

Note: If you have completed resident registration but do not actually live at the address, these procedures cannot be completed.

● Application Period: Between July 26 (Mon.) and August 10 (Tue.) (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and National holidays)
