HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infection Testing (Consultations at the time of notification of test results are conducted by counselors who speak foreign languages)

Languages: English, Thai, Spanish and Portuguese
Days: Twice a month on Thursday, as a rule (except national holidays)
Hours: 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.
Location: Shinjuku City Public Health Center test site (Shinjuku Taxation Office 1F, 7-5-8 Nishi-Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku)
○Reservations are not required. Please come during reception hours on a test day.
○Syphilis, chlamydia and hepatitis B tests can also be taken at the same time upon request.
○Results are notified at the test location one week later, from the doctor directly to the patient only. Results are not provided over the phone, nor are medical certificates and other documents issued. You also cannot take photos of the results.

Anonymous HIV Test and Sexually Transmitted Infections Consultation Service Available Free of Charge

An HIV test involves taking a small blood sample to see if there are any HIV antibodies in the blood. Since it takes six to eight weeks for antibodies to develop, the test should be done at least sixty days after the date of possible infection. If you so wish, you can be tested for syphilis, chlamydia and hepatitis B at the same time. The test includes counseling in English, Thai, Portuguese, and Spanish. A reservation is not required for testing in one of the above languages. (Note: A reservation is required for testing in Japanese.) A maximum of twenty-five persons on a first-come, first-served basis. Telephone consultation services are also available.
Maximum of fifty persons on a first-come, first-served basis for night tests (for both men and women), tests for men, and tests for women.

An HIV consultation service provided by foreign counselors is available.
