Tests for HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infection Will Be Cancelled Indefinitely

Due to the spread of novel coronavirus, tests for HIV and sexually transmitted infection will be cancelled indefinitely. (Only telephone consultations will be conducted.) Notification of results will also only be conducted until April 16.
Although we understand this will inconvenience those who wish to undergo testing, your understanding would be deeply appreciated.
The re-opening of testing will be announced on this website.

Telephone Consultations concerning AIDS

Hours: Thursdays (as a rule; excludes holidays), 1 to 5 p.m. Thai-speaking staff is present twice a month on Thursdays. (On the days HIV tests are conducted.)
Note: Consultation can be conducted on an anonymous basis.

HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infection Testing (Consultations at the time of notification of test results are conducted by counselors who speak foreign languages) (Cancelled indefinitely)

Languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Thai
Days: Twice a month on Thursday, as a rule (except national holidays)
Hours: 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.
Location: Shinjuku City Public Health Center test site (Shinjuku Metropolitan Taxation Office 1F, 7-5-8 Nishi-Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku)

○ Reservations are not required; 25 persons on a first-come, first-served basis.
○ Syphilis, chlamydia and hepatitis B virus tests can also be taken at the same time upon request.
○ Results are notified at the test location one week later, from the doctor directly to the patient only. Results are not provided over the phone, nor are medical certificates and other documents issued. You also cannot take photos of the results.

Anonymous HIV Test and Sexually Transmitted Infections Consultation Service Available Free of Charge (Cancelled indefinitely)

An HIV test involves taking a small blood sample to see if there are any HIV antibodies in the blood. Since it takes six to eight weeks for antibodies to develop, the test should be done at least sixty days after the date of possible infection. If you so wish, you can be tested for syphilis, chlamydia and hepatitis B at the same time. The test includes counseling in English, Thai, Portuguese, and Spanish. A reservation is not required for testing in one of the above languages. (Note: A reservation is required for testing in Japanese.) A maximum of twenty-five persons on a first-come, first-served basis (For the time being, the hours will be shortened due to the new type of coronavirus, so only twenty persons will be tested on a first-come, first-served basis during this period.). Telephone consultation services are also available.

* Night tests (for both men and women): 6 to 7 p.m. (The site will open from 5:30 p.m.)
