Medical Certificates for Infants/Toddlers and Children Coming

New medical certificates (in light green) will be mailed out for all eligible children on Friday, September 9.
If you do not receive certificates for your children by the end of September, please call the number below.

Eligibility for Medical Subsidies for Children

All children are eligible until they complete compulsory education (i.e., until the first March 31 after they reach fifteen years of age).
Preschoolers will receive a medical certificate for infants/toddlers, and elementary/junior high school students will receive a medical certificate for children.

Certificate Period of Validity

The new certificates are valid from October 1 through September 30, 2023, or until the first March 31 after your child reaches 6 years of age (for the medical certificate for infants/toddlers) or 15 years of age (for the certificate for children).

Subsidy Program

Covers personally borne medical expenses and standard personally borne expenses for meals after health insurance is applied.

Note: If you were unable to use the medical certificate for infants/toddlers or children and paid the personally borne expense for health insurance-covered treatment at a medical institution service counter, please bring your original receipt and file a subsidy application at the relevant division or at your local branch office within five years after the day after the date of treatment. Applications sent by mail are accepted as well. Please note, however, that the City Office will not be held responsible if your mail does not arrive.
