For Single-Parent Households (Mother and Child or Father and Child) and Those Raising Children with Disabilities
Shinjuku City is offering a special support benefit to help single-parent households and households raising children with disabilities whose incomes have decreased and/or had an increase in childrearing expenses due to COVID-19.
Eligibility | You must meet at least one of the following requirements: ① You will receive the November 2020 portion of childrearing allowance from Shinjuku City. ② You receive the Shinjuku City single-parent households special benefit. (If you applied by October 30, 2020, and maintain an address in Shinjuku City as of November 1, 2020.) ③ If your household budget has been affected by COVID-19, with direct income lower than the income standard for the childrearing allowance, and who meet other childrearing allowance requirements (excluding ① and ② mentioned above). |

Benefit Amount | 50,000 yen per child |
Payment Procedures | If you fall under category ①: The benefit will be deposited into the same account used for your childrearing allowance sometime in December 2020. If you fall under categories ② or ③: The benefit will be deposited into the account you designate in December 2020 or thereafter. |
Application Period and Procedures | No application is required for categories ① and ②. For category ③, please file an application between Monday, November 2, 2020 and Friday, February 26, 2021 in person at the service counter or by postal mail. |
Required Documents | Category ③ For single-parent households: Family registration* and documentation to verify the household budget. For households raising children with disabilities: A copy of the child’s Handbook for the Physically Disabled* and documentation to verify the household budget. * The required documents can be abridged for those who have authorization for the child support allowance, childrearing allowance, medical subsidies for single-parent families, or special child support allowance. Please call for more information about the eligibility requirements and the required documents for single parents and disabilities. |
