Comprehensive Children’s Center/Families with Children Support Center Offer Support for Childrearing from Infants and Toddlers to Junior High and High School Students!
Various services—such as consultation on problems and concerns regarding childrearing, offering a venue where children can play safely, and other childrearing support programs—are provided so that families raising children and children under eighteen years of age can live in their local communities with peace of mind. Please take advantage of the services available.
Note: Consultation and inquiries are handled in Japanese.
● Comprehensive Consultation for Families with Children
An advisor will listen to your problems and concerns regarding childrearing and discuss the issue with you, offer advice, and provide information on relevant institutions. Please feel free to call the special consultant’s line or come in person. The Comprehensive Children’s Center also offers advice to children who graduated from junior high school.
● User Support Services
The center provides information and consultation so that childrearing families can choose and use support programs according to their needs, from facilities such as kindergartens and nursery schools as well as community childrearing support programs.
● Parents and Children’s Plaza
Infants and toddlers and their parents/guardians can play and have friendly exchanges in this area freely all day. The center holds seasonal events and childrearing support classes to enable people to make new friends.
● Children’s Corner
This is a play area that children under eighteen years of age can enjoy freely. The Comprehensive Children’s Center, Shinanomachi Families with Children Support Center, Enokicho Families with Children Support Center, and Naka-Ochiai Families with Children Support Center all have a room especially for junior high and high school students.
● Children’s Short Stay Program
Childcare is provided at a nursery or a cooperating home in Shinjuku City for up to one week when parents/guardians are unable to care for their child due to hospitalization, childbirth or providing nursing care.

● At-home Childrearing Support Program
An assistant is dispatched to help residents who have given birth within the past year, providing childcare and performing simple household chores.

● Short-time Childcare in a Play Area
Childcare is provided for children between six months of age up to entrance to elementary school for up to four hours a day regardless of the reason, such as work, an urgent errand, or simply if the parent needs a break. Prior registration and reservations are required.

● Development Consultation and Service Use Consultation
Specialized staff members offer advice concerning child development and the use of relevant services.

● Child Development Support and After-School Day Service
Group activity helps the wholesome physical and emotional development of children. In addition, personal instruction develops individual strengths and enhances motivation.

● Home Visit Support for Children
If family circumstances make commuting to a facility for child development support for infants and toddlers difficult, staff members will visit your home to offer instruction in play and everyday life, and also provide helpful information.

● Temporary Childcare for Children with Disabilities
Temporary childcare is provided for emergencies and when necessary for preschool children from three years of age who have developmental issues. You can use this service up to three times per month. Prior registration and reservations are required.

● Nursery School Visit Support Program
Support staff members visit nursery schools, kindergartens and kodomoen, and offer specialized support to children who need it so that they can enjoy group activities. These support staff members also offer ideas and advice about involving these children to staff at the facilities they visit.

● Parent Mentor
A “parent mentor” is someone whom parents can rely on for advice. For example, mothers who have raised a child whose physical or emotional development was slow offer their support to mothers worried or insecure about their child’s development.
